Sachin Tendulkar reveals the sacrifice made by his wife Anjali for his career
Sachin has never been a fan of instilling his thoughts or desires in his children.
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali’s love story has been well documented. It was love at first sight for the duo after they met on an Airport back in 1990 after Sachin was coming having toured England with the Indian cricket team. After five years of dating, the duo married in 1995 and continues to remain one of the most endearing celebrity couples.
Both have supported each other through thick and thin and have set an example of an inspiring and fascinating love story. It is said behind every successful couple there are a plethora of sacrifices made by each of them. And, in the case of Sachin and Anjali, the same can be said about the Master Blaster’s wife. Anjali, who is a gold-medal-winning doctor herself, chose her family ahead of her career in order to let Sachin focus solely on cricket.
The Master Blaster revealed the same while talking to India Today. Sachin said, “I was doing well for India and Anjali stood first in her exam. You know she is a gold medallist doctor so… her career was also flourishing and she was gonna reach a different level but she decided to sacrifice her career so that we could have a family.”
Tendulkar added, “She knew that I had to travel and then who’s gonna look after Sara and Arjun? So she graciously decided to take that decision. I don’t think things would have been the same without her contribution and her graciousness. I don’t think I would have been sitting here, no chance.”
Anjali is six years older than Sachin Tendulkar. However, the age gap has never intervened in their relationship. Sachin had also stated in an interview that how the age difference has made them more committed and understanding towards each other.
Sachin Tendulkar never really forced his son or daughter to take up cricket
Sachin has never been a fan of instilling his thoughts or desires in his children. And, even though Arjun Tendulkar decided to take up cricket, Sachin never really forced his son or daughter to take up the profession that he wanted them to. Sachin also revealed that he had earlier enjoyed playing football and chess until his cricketing journey started on its own.
“As a father, I want to do exactly what my father did for me. He gave me the freedom to be what I wanted to be in life. It was never: ‘I’m a writer and you need to follow my footsteps’. So for Arjun also it was the same thing.
“I am a cricketer doesn’t mean you have to play cricket. He earlier enjoyed playing football, chess and cricket started on its own, I didn’t force him into it. So was the case with Sara also. Whatever she wanted to be in life, both Anjali and I supported her and said whatever you want to be in life don’t find shortcuts and that’s exactly what my father told me,” Tendulkar asserted.
