Sachin Tendulkar wishes Dale Steyn on his birthday, Steyn overwhelmed

At 35, it would seem as though Dale Steyn and his prowess of getting batsmen to shiver at their spines may very well be diminishing. However, as he has also admitted several times in the past, he needs to drop pace should he want to continue playing cricket for South Africa in the Tests and ODIs at the very least. With the 2019 World Cup in his sight, Steyn is certainly one of the players who may be a part of the side should he remain fit.

A year older and a year wiser is certainly something that Steyn had been looking forward to. However, a birthday of a superstar such as Steyn is certainly something that brings the cricketing fraternity together. It was also something that saw legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar wishing Steyn as the latter turned 35.

This was something that overwhelmed Steyn as he went on to reply with a short and sweet Tweet: “How Cool! The little master himself” Steyn was the subject of several birthday wishes, but seemingly did not react as much as he possibly did when Tendulkar’s wish presented itself.

Steyn will be best remembered for his Test debut against England, something that many consider to be the best Test series ever played. He had made his debut along with AB de Villiers, the latter wh recently announced his retirement as well. Steyn impressed one and all with his blistering pace, something that many did not expect as the youngster made his claim to fame on the world stage. This is certainly something that he will be fondly remembered for. More than 14 years on, it is clear that he is one of the best that ever was.
