Sakshi contacted Suresh Raina for sharing the message of Ziva's birth to MS Dhoni

The game of cricket has witnessed many spectacular partnerships. Be it Sangakkara-Jayawardena, McGrath-Warne, Hayden-Gilchrist, the game is full of great personalities who gave us sheer joy in tandem. One such partnership is that of Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni.
The duo made their debut almost during the same period between 2004-2005 season. During their early days, they formed the young brigade of the Indian team and helped India win a number of matches together.
The two had been the backbone of the Indian team lower down for almost a decade. In the interim, came the Indian Premier League which saw the two don the yellows of the Chennai Super Kings.
MSD was the King of Chepauk while Raina was the mainstay for their team at top of the order and amassed the most number of runs in the league cumulatively for the franchise until it was relegated. The two forged a rigid camaraderie so much so that Raina was the first one to hear about the birth of MSD’s child Ziva.
Cut to February 2015, MS Dhoni was expecting a child but the ICC World Cup of 2015 at Australia overlapped the two events. Citing national duties, the then Indian captain chose the tournament over the birth of his first child.

When asked whether he would rather have been in India in recent days he said: “Not really. I have been blessed with a baby daughter. Mum and daughter both are good. But as of now, I am on national duties so I think everything else can wait. The World Cup is a very important campaign,” MS Dhoni told the reporters.
Dhoni’s daughter, Ziva was born on 6th February, two days ahead of India’s warm-up match against Australia. Two and half years hence, it has come to light in renowned journalist Rajdeep Sardesai’s book, ‘Democracy’s XI: The Great Indian Cricket Story’, that Sakshi had contacted Suresh Raina to share the good news with Dhoni of daughter Ziva’s as the captain did not carry his cell phone.
The publisher of the book, Juggernaut Books, tweeted on Friday regarding the incident during ICC World Cup 2015,”When @msdhoni becm a father around 2015 World Cup, he wasn’t carrying a mobile. His wife sent an SMS thru @ImRaina to inform him! #RajdeepsBook.”
