Sakshi Dhoni wishes Shardul Thakur on his 27th birthday
Thakur made his Test debut last week against the Windies.
Sakshi Dhoni, the wife of former India captain MS Dhoni, took to social media to wish Shardul Thakur on the occasion of his birthday. Thakur, who made his Test debut in the second Test against the Windies in Hyderabad, celebrated his birthday with the Indian Cricket Team on October 16. India thrashed the Windies in the two-match Test series and completed a 2-0 whitewash, thus winning their 10th straight home series victory.
Paceman Shardul Thakur became the 294th player to represent India when he was handed his maiden Test cap by head coach Ravi Shastri on Day 1 of the second Test at Hyderabad. Thakur is an aggressive quick bowler, who has the ability to swing the ball away from the right-handers. He also hits the deck hard, and can often rush batsmen with his skiddy pace. The speedster has established himself as the spearhead of Mumbai’s bowling attack in the domestic circuit.
Groin injury marred Thakur’s Test debut
Thakur, unfortunately, couldn’t make the most of his Test debut, as he hobbled off the field in the early hours of Day 1 in Hyderabad after a groin injury. He nevertheless came back out bravely to bat for India in the first innings. While the speedster recovers from his injury, Sakshi Dhoni shared lovely photograph of her with Shardul on the occasion of his birthday. She posted the photograph on Instagram with the caption, “Happy Bday!! @shardul_thakur lot’s of joy and happiness to you !!”

Shardul Thakur was MS Dhoni’s teammate in the 2018 edition of the IPL, which not only saw the Chennai Super Kings return to the cash-rich league after a two-year ban but also race to a third title under skipper Dhoni’s leadership. Thakur picked up a total of 16 wickets in the tournament averaging just under 27. He also finished with best figures of 2 for 18.
The pacer has been included in India’s 14-man squad for the first two ODIs against the Windies. India take on the visiting Windies in 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is before flying to Australia for a lengthy series.
