Virat Kohli didn’t have a fruitful outing in the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand as India lost the contest by eight wickets and fell short of the prestigious title. With the summit clash taking place at the pace-friendly Southampton track, runs were not easy to come by. However, Kohli had tasted success in England before, and many backed him to play a match-winning knock.

The Indian skipper did get a good start in the first innings, but he couldn’t convert it into a big score, getting out on 44. The case was even worse in India’s second innings as Kohli departed after scoring just 13 runs. Both times the talismanic batsman fell prey to Kiwi pacer Kyle Jamieson. The right-arm fast bowler brilliantly exploited swing and bounce from the surface, and subsequently brought curtains to Kohli’s innings not once but two times.

While fans hailed Jamieson for his spectacular show, Kohli got trolled for his under-par performance. Social media also got flooded with many memes, showing the Kiwi pacer’s dominance over the Indian skipper. It seems like one such post left New Zealand opener Finn Allen and England wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings amused. The duo liked a controversial meme on Instagram, trolling Virat Kohli for his lackluster show in the WTC final.

Finn Allen, Sam Billings face backlash on social media

The post featured a man wearing a collar band while a girl is controlling him. As per the meme, Kohli is the man, and the girl represents Jamieson. Fans of the Indian skipper might find this meme distasteful, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with Billings and Allen. Both batsmen liked the post, and screenshots of the same are doing rounds on social media. Subsequently, the duo is facing a lot of criticism.

Meanwhile, Kohli wasn’t the only Indian batsman who had problems against Jamieson in the WTC final. The pacer took a total of seven wickets in the game and also scored a handy 21 in New Zealand’s first innings. Riding on his stellar show, the Kane Williamson-led side crossed the line and became the first champions of Test cricket. Jamieson received the Player of the Match award for his sensational performance.
