Sam Curran, the England all-rounder, won’t be travelling to India this week, meaning that he’s set to miss out on the third Test against India, starting February 24 at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad. The youngster was scheduled to fly out to India to start a six-day quarantine period on Friday, but the same has been postponed as England keep in mind the ‘bio-bubble fatigue’.

But as per reports, the 22-year-old is likely to join the national squad next week, making him available for the fourth and final Test, starting March 4 in Ahmedabad itself. Curran was a part of England’s home campaign last year after which he headed for the Indian Premier League (IPL). Thereafter, he was a part of the Brits in their tour of South Africa and Sri Lanka.

“Sam’s been given a few extra days to recharge his batteries after a lot of cricket and time in a behind-closed-doors environment,” an England spokesman was quoted as saying in Daily Mail. England currently lead the four-match series 1-0 after winning the opening Test by 227 runs.

It’s going to be a very different challenge: Sam Curran

Earlier, ahead of England’s series, Curran stated that he’s up for the challenge, having not played Test cricket on Indian soil. In 21 Tests, he has picked up 44 wickets and scored 741 runs at an average of 25.55.

“I haven’t played any red-ball cricket in India, so it’s going to be a very different challenge and something I’m excited about. I watch a lot of Test cricket in India on TV when they are playing, so I’m really looking forward to hopefully getting out there and getting in the nets and adapting to those conditions and taking on the challenge,” Curran was quoted as saying in Sportstar.

He also talked about playing under MS Dhoni while representing the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL.

“It was amazing. To be able to play under one of the legends of the game was incredible. I enjoyed it. He was very welcoming from the start and made me at ease in the changing room. On the field he was really helpful,” Curran added.
