West Indies batsman Marlon Samuels has been ruled out of the Tri-Nations One-Day International series in Zimbabwe that also involves Sri Lanka scheduled to be played later this month. The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) on announced that Samuels had been replaced in the 15-man squad by wicketkeeper-batsman Shane Dowrich. The tri-series kicks off on November 14 and the final will be played on November 27.
It is also to be noted that Dowrich was one of the stand-out performers for West Indies in the recently concluded third Test against Pakistan which they eventually managed to win and finish off the series with a 2-1 score line having lost the T20I and ODI series 3-0 each.
The WICB specified no reason for the Jamaican’s withdrawal, but it since it came just a day after Samuels rejected the West Indian board’s offer for a central contract for the coming year the two events are quite easily relatable.
It has also put his international career in a sort of dark given that he wasn’t at his best either in the recent series in the UAE against Pakistan. However, the way Samuels has been batting in the limited-overs format of late, he is considered a key member of the West Indies limited-overs team and the WICB will definitely want to dissolve the differences as soon as possible and get him back on representing the team.

Along with the veteran 19-year-old pacer, Alzarri Joseph has also been replaced by fast bowler Miguel Cummins for the series. Again there was no reason specified for his exclusion by the WICB but it is believed that Joseph opted out due to personal reasons.
