Sanath Jayasuriya, Farveez Maharoof, Ashan Priyanjan dodge the suicide blast unharmed
The blast took place during an ongoing match of the Shpageeza Cricket League.
Tragedy hit the world of cricket once again in the form of a horrific bomb blast that took place outside the Kabul International Cricket Stadium, in Kabul, Afghanistan. Renowned cricketers in the name of Sanath Jayasuriya, Farveez Maharoof, Ashan Priyanjan and match referee Graeme Labrooy managed to escape unharmed from the stadium.

The incident was marked by a suicide bomber who sacrificed his life to make the blast happen at a checkpoint near the stadium in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Wednesday. According to reports, at least three people were killed in the incident which took place when a tournament was underway at the Kabul International Cricket Stadium.
Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danesh confirmed that 2 policemen lost their lives in the tragedy along with a civilian. 5 people were reported to be wounded as a result of the blast. However, all the cricketers managed to get out safe according to Local Tolo News Television.
The blast took place during an ongoing match of the Shpageeza Cricket League, a T20 tournament like the Indian Premier League (IPL) or the Pakistan Super League (PSL). A handful of foreign players are also taking part in the tournament which involves the likes of Pakistani heavyweights Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq.

The country of Pakistan has been facing an international drought since then with no Test playing nation touring the country barring a visit by Zimbabwe in 2015. However, the fortunes have now turned for the good as an ICC World XI is currently in Pakistan for a T20 series. the series aims to bring back cricket in the country.
