Sandeep Lamichhane, the Nepal leg-spinner has named Shane Warne, Sachin Tendulkar and Shakib Al Hasan as his favourite bowler, batsman and all-rounder respectively. Warne remains as a legendary figure as his tally of Test wickets is only second to Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan. Warne also managed quite a few accolades while playing in the ODI format.
Warne was no mug with the bat either, scoring over 4,100 runs in his career with 13 half-centuries to show for his efforts. He also guided the Rajasthan Royals to glory in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League back in 2008. The Royals didn’t have the most experienced players, but despite that, Warne was able to lead them to glory in the tournament.
Sandeep Lamichhane picks his best players
Coming to Sachin, he remains as the only batsman with as many as 100 centuries in international cricket. He was also the first batsman to smash the first double century in ODI cricket against South Africa. Even after seven years after his retirement, a number of his records at the highest level remain unscathed. He also has a century for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
As far as Shakib Al Hasan is concerned, he is, without a shred of a doubt, the greatest cricketer Bangladesh have produced in the last two decades. He has flourished in all three formats for the Tigers and has shown his class. Though Bangladesh couldn’t qualify for the final of the 2019 World Cup, Shakib was at his very best, both with the ball and bat in hand.
Lamichhane was asked to name the three players by a fan on Twitter. The supporter also asked him about a talent, who could rule the cricket world. However, Lamichhane couldn’t name the emerging player as he feels there are many cricketers, who could weave magic.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “@ShaneWarne, @sachin_rt, & @Sah75official respectively. Very tough to name one about the emerging players as there are plenty of name in my list. “ Lamichhane, himself, has been a revelation, picking up 57 wickets at the international level. He has also played for a number of T20 franchises around the world.
