Sandeep Lamichhane tests COVID-19 positive ahead of BBL season

In the line of COVID-19 havoc across the world, Nepalese national cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has tested positive for the virus recently. The right arm leggie broke the news on the same through his Twitter handle, where he told people about his condition in the past few days. He also concluded by stating that his health is in improving state right now, and he would mark his return on the field soon.

The 20-year-old leg spinner plays for the national cricket team of Nepal and has plied his trade across various T20 leagues of the world. He is part of the Delhi Capitals franchise in the Indian Premier League and has been part of Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League and Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League. He was the first cricketer to make his T20I debut, which represented a combined team.

He tweeted about his condition as- “Hi Everyone, Greetings to all. It’s my sincere duty to tell you all that I have been tested positive for COVID-19. I had some body aches since Wednesday. But my health is improving a little bit now. If all goes well, I will return to the field again. Keep me in your prayers.”

The COVID-19 wave is fierce across the world, and it has not left the world of cricket in the same manner. During the recently concluded edition of IPL, CSK squad members tested positive ahead of their matches, and it created a stir in the team. The entire season was played in the bio-bubble with utmost strict SOPs in place. Post COVID-19, all the tournaments, including the bilateral series are being conducted inside the bio-safety bubble.

In the recent turn of events, the Pakistan side that has gone to tour New Zealand received a severe blow when six of its squad members tested COVID-19 positive. The Health Ministry of the country also stated that the national team of Pakistan will be sent back if they don’t follow the quarantine rules. All the infected players have been isolated and would be tested 4-5 times again before starting with the tournament.
