Though Shoaib Malik is an old horse for Pakistan now, the way he has been playing in T20 WC is second to none. In fact, what he brought to the table for Pakistan during their last league against Scotland was no less than a miracle. He smashed an unbeaten 54 off 18 to push Pakistan post a challenging total of 189 runs on the board. He walked in the 16th over of the game when Pakistan were at a loss of three wickets.
Not only did Malik stitch a crucial partnership with Babar Azam but smashed six sixes and one four to accelerate Pakistan’s innings drastically. To celebrate his fine success, Indian tennis star and Malik’s wife Sania Mirza was present in stands and was seen applauding with a smile after batter’s fiery fifty.

Mirza and Malik got married in 2010 and now have a baby boy between them. While Malik continued his game for Pakistan, Mirza kept playing tennis for India. Talking about Pakistan’s campaign, they stormed their way through the semi-finals by remaining the only unbeaten team in the tournament so far. Malik also added that he is liking his fine form which is helping his team well.
“As we saw in the previous games if we don’t lose wickets early then there’s a chance of putting a good total in the end and that’s been the talk in the dressing room, to get to 150 and not give any early wickets. If you’re playing on a good track, then you take a couple of balls to get your eye in before you start attacking, but on these tracks, you might take 6-8 balls, assess the conditions, and then start playing your shots.
“Win is a big thing, you take a lot of confidence going deep into the tournament. For myself, I’m in good form and I want to be more consistent which can help the team, still fit and it’s going to be a big game (Semis) and we are going to give our best shot,” said Malik in the post-match presentation.
