Hardik Pandya has been a recipient of a severe amount of criticism over the past few months owing to his lacklustre performances on the cricket pitch, especially in Test cricket. He forayed into the longest format back in July 2017 against Sri Lanka and made an immediate impression. He scored a century in the same tour and presented himself as a useful prospect even in red ball cricket.

Thereafter, he notched 93 runs against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town. Nevertheless, he couldn’t quite translate his form in the next few matches. He is currently playing in India’s five-match Test series against England. The 24-year-old all-round cricketer flattered to deceive with both leather and the willow in the first two matches at Edgbaston and Lord’s respectively.

However, he answered his critics appropriately in the ongoing Test match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. He picked up a five-wicket haul in the first innings to rip the heart out of the English batting lineup. He eventually finished with jaw-dropping figures of 6-1-28-5 and it helped India bowl the Three Lions out for 161 in 38.2 overs. It was also the first instance when he picked up a fifer in Tests.

While leaving the park, he also acknowledged the audience by showing the ball to the crowd present at the venue. Recently, he posted a picture on Instagram and mentioned the day as a dream day. He uploaded a picture and wrote, “There’s no better feeling than making the ball do all the talking. Dream day yesterday, picking up my first fifer in Test cricket. let’s do this”.

In the meantime, Sania Mirza, the Indian tennis player, wished the Gujarat-born player after his stupendous efforts. She replied and wrote, “Congratulations champ”.
