Sanjay Manjrekar takes a dig at Jaydev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav while praising Trent Boult
Both Unadkat and Umesh have been lacklustre this season.
MS Dhoni missed Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) 12th match in this edition’s Indian Premier League (IPL) due to fever. However, the veteran was back in the last match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The 37-year-old wicketkeeper wasn’t 100 per cent fit, but yet he wielded his magic, both with the willow and the keeping gloves.
The Jharkhand-born turned up with a knock of 44* runs off 22 balls with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. It helped CSK post a substantial score of 179 in 20 overs. In the last over, he deposited Trent Boult into the stands and propelled the Super Kings’ score. Thereafter, during DC’s innings, Dhoni put forth his fast glovework to stump Shreyas Iyer and Chris Morris.
In the meantime, Dhoni’s sixes against Boult impressed former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar. However, he also took a dig at Jaydev Unadkat and Umesh Yadav, who’s been playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) respectively.
Manjrekar, who’s also a commentator, took to Twitter and wrote, “This was no Unadkat or Yadav, this was Trent Boult in the final over that Dhoni took to the cleaners,”
Here is Manjrekar’s tweet
Both Unadkat and Umesh have been lackluster this season. As far as Yadav is concerned, he has only been able to pick up eight wickets in 10 matches at an alarming economy rate of 9.60. His best figures of 3/36 came against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Coming to Unadkat, he hasn’t been all that great either in this IPL. The left-arm speedster has 10 wickets in 11 matches at an economy rate of 10.66. His best figures of 2/26 came against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
