Sanju Samson and Deepak Chahar's hilarious banter on Instagram leaves fans in splits
Sanju Samson and Deepak Chahar are part of the Indian limited-overs squad touring Sri Lanka.
Sanju Samson was seen at his comedic best during an exchange on Instagram with Deepak Chahar. The wicketkeeper-batsman and the bowler are currently travelling to Sri Lanka with the Indian team which will play three ODIs and three T20Is. The reply from the Kerala player to Chahar’s question was something which the fans absolutely loved.
The banter between Chahar and Samson on the Instagram post that happened on the latter’s Instagram upload, went viral among the fans on social media. Samson uploaded a selfie wearing the Indian team’s travelling kit. He also added an emoticon of an aeroplane along with a flag of Sri Lanka, expressing that he is on his way to the island nation.
Deepak Chahar added a comment asking where he is going, to which Samson replied by inviting the fast-bowler to join him in the backseat of the team bus. The two have previously played together for India A and have also been teammates in the Indian T20I squads. Both the players will be two of the more experienced players going on this tour, with a squad that is relatively filled with young players.
The Sri Lankan tour will be quite important for Sanju Samson
This tour will be quite an important one for Sanju Samson. After being dropped from the Indian T20I squad, the right-handed batter seems to have fallen behind in the race to make it to the national team for the ICC T20 World Cup, which will be held later this year. He last played during the T20I series in Australia late last year. He was not picked for the T20I series against England.
Ishan Kishan, one of the players who is fighting to find a berth in the World Cup squad will also be touring Sri Lanka. In the absence of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, Samson and Kishan have been kept as the wicketkeeping choices for the Sri Lankan tour. Both the players will be batting in the middle order trying to keep a case in front of the selectors.
Samson was in good nick with the bat during the IPL 2021, which got postponed abruptly. Leading his Rajasthan Royals team from the front, the Kerala player scored 277 runs with a strike rate of 145.78. The ODI series against Sri Lanka is set to kick off in Colombo on July 13.
