Sarfaraz Ahmed disappointed to see cricket being targeted after Pulwama attack
He felt that politics should be mixed with sports.
The recent dastard attack in Pulwama which took the lives of 44 CRPF Indian soldiers has led to severe outrage in the nation. While the already sour relations between India and Pakistan have affected more, Cricket is also likely to take a hit if the developments in the last few days are to be believed. There have been calls for the Men in Blue to boycott the World Cup game against Pakistan and Sarfaraz Ahmed is extremely disappointed over the same.
He felt that politics shouldn’t be mixed with the sports and the game should go as per scheduled on June 16 at the Old Trafford in Manchester.
“The India and Pakistan match should be played as per schedule as there are millions of people who want to watch this game. I just don’t think cricket should be targeted for political gains. It is disappointing to see cricket being targeted after the Pulwama incident. I don’t recall Pakistan ever mixing sports with politics,” Sarfaraz told CricketPakistan.com.pk website on Friday.
No broadcast of PSL in India
Meanwhile, soon after the ghastly attack in Pulwama, the broadcast of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) was stopped in India by DSport. Even the IMG Reliance pulled itself out which led to the tournament going off air. Pakistan cricketers have openly expressed their disappointment over the matter and aren’t happy that cricket is suffering due to the attack.
“Sports should just be taken as sports,” Sarfaraz further said clearing his views on the ongoing issue which means that he is looking forward to playing against India in the World Cup. Last time both the teams met in the ICC tournament, the Men in Green had won by a whopping margin to pocket the Champions Trophy in 2017. It remains to be seen what the final decision will be on this issue now.
