Sarfaraz Ahmed's wife trolls Steve Smith with his 'yawning' picture

Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been an easy target for trollers and memers for quite some time now. The wicketkeeper-batsman is continuously subjected to brutal trolls, offensive memes, and hate on social networking sites. It had all started with Pakistan’s loss against India in the 2019 World Cup where the visuals of then captain Sarfaraz yawning behind the stumps were blown out of proportion on twitter.

His below-average performance during the whole World Cup and Pakistan’s exit from the league stage added to all the criticism and hate for the cricketer. Bearing the brunt of all this, Sarfaraz was removed as a captain and was later dropped from the playing XI. It was after nearly one year that Sarfaraz got a place in the Pakistan squad.

Though he was included in the Pakistan tour of England, he warmed the bench for the three-Test matches and two T20 Internationals. During the third and final Test match, while England was playing its first innings, Ahmed was again seen yawning as he was sitting in the dugout. Then, during the second T20I at Manchester, he was again battling with his sleep which got captured in the cameras. Thus, Sarfaraz was trolled mercilessly on Twitter as the only cricketer to have yawned in all the three formats of the game.

Further when the 33-year-old featured in the playing XI of Men in Green, he failed to implement an easy stumping of the opposition batsman Moeen Ali who went on to hit a 33-ball 61. Fortunately, the visitors managed to clinch the match by 5 runs owing to the brilliant bowling by Shaheen Afridi and Wahab Riaz.

After being under fire for a long time, Sarfaraz Ahmed finally replied to the trolls saying that he is not as bad as people try to portray him. The batsman had posted a cryptic tweet on his official Twitter handle on September 2. He had tweeted, “Main itna bhi bura nahi hu, jitna log bata rahe hai.”

Now, Ahmed’s wife Khushbakht Sarfaraz has supported her husband by posting a picture of Australia’s swashbuckling batsman Steven Smith yawning during the T20I match against England. Australia is touring England for a three-match ODI and T20I series and the first match was played on September 4 at Southampton.
