Sarfraz Ahmed is mostly angry with me: Imad Wasim
Imad revealed that half the times when Sarfraz is angry, it’s because of him.
The Pakistan cricket team, of late, has enjoyed tremendous success. And much of it can be owed to their wicketkeeper-captain Sarfraz Ahmed. The glovesman has done a brilliant job from behind the stumps, which saw the Men in Green win the Champions Trophy earlier this year by defeating arch-rivals India in the finale.
The 30-year-old skipper, however, has his own way of keeping order on the pitch. Sarfraz is known for his emotional outbursts on the field, which has drawn criticism from different corners. The Pakistani skipper can be seen shouting and very animated when things aren’t going exactly as planned on the cricket field. While some purists claim it as an unhealthy habit, there are certain pundits which believe that his attitude symbolizes his intention to win for Pakistan and not just himself.
The teammates were aware of Sarfraz’s anger
However, this display of anger is a part of Sarfraz’s personality, and his team-mates are completely aware of the fact and understand it and there is no discordance amongst the team. In fact, they believe that it’s his right to get mad and lose his temper at times when his compatriots fail to deliver in crucial times. Interestingly, all-rounder, Imad Wasim revealed that half the times when Sarfraz is angry, it’s because of him.
Imad was quoted as saying by BBC Urdu as saying, “Sarfraz Ahmed is mostly angry with me, however, I have never felt bad about it. Since I have known Sarfraz for almost twelve and a half years. It is obvious that when you are playing for Pakistan, you will be scolded if you commit mistakes,”
He added, “Since we know the Sarfraz’s nature, this is not a new thing for us, but for those who do not know Sarfraz, this anger can be a new thing. However, Sarfraz treats us like brothers on and off the field.”
