Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed is currently cooling his feet as he is enjoying a break from international cricket. He has been seen playing for a club recently. The wicketkeeper-batsman participated in the PCB Fazal Mahmood National Club Cricket Championship and helped Pakistan CC enter the fourth round of the competition with a six-wicket win against Nazimabad Gymkhana.

Nazimabad Gymkhanaopted to bat first and scored 165 in 41.5 overs. The Pakistan CC side were too good for their opposition, as they cruised home with more than 20 overs to spare. Hamza Ghanchi top-scored for the Gymkhana side with an impressive 41 while left-arm spin all-rounder Danish Aziz scalped figures of 4/34. Saud Shakeel scored an unbeaten 50 off 55 balls to entertain the crowd.

Pakistan will be in action against New Zealand next year. The Sarfraz-led side will leave for New Zealand in late December to play a series of five ODIs starting from January 6, followed by a series of three T20Is starting from January 22.“We played well in ODIs and T20Is against Sri Lanka and I am looking forward to continue the momentum,” he said.

“We will have a short camp here ahead of the tour and we are planning to reach New Zealand at least 8 to 10 days before the start of series, which will provide us ample time to gel in the conditions,” the 30-year-old said.

On Fawad Alam

He also spoke recently regarding the top performers in the domestic circuit and said that they will get a shot at the international level soon.“I hope Fawad will soon get a chance and perform for Pakistan,” said Sarfraz, adding an Urdu-language idiom, “Allah ke ghar dair hai, andhair nahee.”

On Kamran Akmal

He also added that he isn’t feeling insecure as Kamran Akmal is going great guns at the domestic level.“This is Pakistan’s team and whoever performs, will get to play for the country. I am not insecure or threatened by anyone’s performance,” he said.Kami was included in the team earlier this year as well and if I was insecure why would have I included him in the squad,” Sarfraz said.
