With the IPL set to begin, players will be quite packed for the next couple of months. However, it isn’t just them who will be busy with the start of the tournament, even the social media admins will be busier than usual as they have to ensure the excitement levels are constantly rising. Catering to millions of fans on social media isn’t an easy task and they will obviously have to put in a lot of effort to ensure fans are entertained by the posts. From live updates regarding matches to important updates off the field and even memes, they have a lot of work on their hands. Well, they will obviously have a password for their social media accounts, and on that note, here’s a guess at what their secret passwords could be. IPL franchises and their secret social media passwords 1. Mumbai Indians – NOTJUSTODD Mumbai Indians have been the most successful team in IPL history having won the title on 5 occasions. They won their first title in 2013 and won the title in each alternate year till 2019. Thus, all of their initial 4 trophies came in odd years and people started believing they couldn’t win in the even years. However, Rohit Sharma and co. proved this to be wrong by winning the league in 2020. Well, in a way even that year was odd given the circumstances around the world. Thus, a password of NotJustOdd would be apt for them as they showed they can do it in an even year as well. They are one of the favourites to win the tournament this year and given their record in odd years, one wouldn’t put it past them to complete an unprecedented hattrick. 2. Royal Challengers Bangalore – EESALACUPNAMDE RCB have been one of the poorest performers in the history of the IPL and are one of the three active teams to have not won the title. The fact that they have never won it despite having world-class players like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, and Mitchell Starc in their ranks is quite surprising. Despite their rather poor attempts at winning the league, RCB fans never lose hope and are always saying “Ee Sala Cup Namde” before the start of a new season, which translates to “This time the cup is ours.” However given that they have never won, this has become quite a popular meme. Hence, EeSalaCupNamde might suit the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who have one of the bigger social media followings as well. On the field, the team would be hoping to win the league and break their winless streak. 3. Chennai Super Kings – DEFINITELYNOT When MS Dhoni was asked regarding his future in the IPL and whether CSK’s last game of the 2020 campaign would be his last appearance for the franchise, he said “Definitely not” and those words starting trending on social media very quickly. Fans were obviously pleased to hear that the legendary player would still be there for another season. Naturally, even CSK would have been delighted to hear that and they didn’t shy away from showing it to everyone in public. They wore shirts with the magical words printed on them during the 2021 auction as well. After a poor showing last season, both MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings will be looking to prove a point and come back strongly. Given how important Dhoni has been to them even off the field in terms of brand value and social media following, a password regarding him would suit them. 4. Delhi Capitals – NOMORECHOKING Delhi Capitals have also never won an IPL trophy and have only made it to the final once. Their win percentage is amongst the poorest in the league’s history and the fact that they made it to their first final only in the 13th edition of the campaign is proof of that. NoMoreChoking might be a good password for them to keep reminding themselves of the fact that they have to improve their record and lift the trophy in the near future. They also endured a torrid run from 2013 to 2018, when they failed to qualify for the playoffs even once. They were defeated in 2020 final by the Mumbai Indians in a comprehensive manner and they failed to step up when it mattered most. However, they have a very good squad and if they play to their full potential, they could win their first title, and then they could change their password. 5. Kolkata Knight Riders – MOSHAIMORGAN KKR changed their captain halfway through IPL 2020 when they decided to replace Dinesh Karthik with Eoin Morgan. However, the captaincy change didn’t prove to be effective, and poor performances from other players made them finish 5th on the points table. They are the 3rd most successful team having won the title on two occasions, but their last one came 7 years ago in 2014. They have pinned their hopes on the Englishman to carry them to the trophy. MoshaiMorgan translates to Mister Morgan and given how much they depend on him to perform as a batsman and as a captain, it would suit the Knight Riders. They have the tools to win the title this year and have built a good squad for Morgan to lead. 6. Sunrisers Hyderabad – GROUPSTAGEMASTERS Sunrisers Hyderabad came into existence only in 2013 when the Deccan Chargers were terminated from the league. They qualified for the playoffs in their very first season and showed signs of a bright future. After failing to repeat the same in the next 2 years, they won the league in 2016 and have qualified for the playoffs in each of the campaigns since then. They have qualified for the playoffs on an impressive 5 occasions out of 7, and their win percentage is also amongst the very best. The Orange Army have always excelled in the group stage, but quite often faltered during the crunch games and this is evident by the fact that they have won the title just once out of 5 playoff qualifications. Thus, GroupStageMasters might suit them. 7. Punjab Kings – NAMECHANGEFORTUNECHANGE One of the 3 active teams to have not lifted the trophy, Kings XI Punjab Punjab Kings will be desperate to end their title drought. They have made it to the final just once and it was way back in 2014 when they ended up losing to KKR. Well, they have changed their name and even logo ahead of the upcoming season as they look for a fresh start. Even the Delhi Capitals changed their name in 2019, and it worked for them as they ended up qualifying for the playoffs in both years. So, maybe the Punjab Kings obtained inspiration from that decided to change their name in the hope of change in fortune. They had an excellent auction as they managed to buy players like Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, and Shahrukh Khan, and the KL Rahul-led team will hope that their dismal run of form ends this year. 8. Rajasthan Royals – ENGLANDLITE Rajasthan Royals have a very good squad at their disposal and after a terrific auction, many have tipped them to be among the top contenders for the title. They have star players like Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, and Jofra Archer in their ranks as well. Now, all three of them are Englishmen, and given that even Liam Livingstone is English, half of their overseas quota is filled with players from that country. Even their COO, Jake Lush McCrum is from England, and it is clear to see that there’s plenty of Englishmen involved with the team. EnglandLite would be a good password for them given how important all of them are to their fortunes. Even excluding them, they have a highly competitive squad including the likes of Sanju Samson, Chris Morris, and Kartik Tyagi. They will be eyeing the trophy this year with a good lot of their Englishmen.
