One of the most destructive batters going around, Glenn Maxwell has been on a roll in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2021. The Melbourne Stars captain has played some fiery knocks in the tournament and even notched up a century. He also became only the second player after Chris Lynn to smash 100 sixes in Australia’s primary T20 tournament.
Interestingly, this feat of Maxwell led to a banter with New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham on Twitter. For the unversed, Neesham and Maxwell joined forces for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). While neither of the two are a part of the franchise anymore, they continue to share a great bond. The same was evident in their latest exchange on Twitter.
Jimmy Neesham pulls Glenn Maxwell’s leg
“The celebrate @Gmaxi_32’s century of @BBL sixes, we’ve compiled them all for your viewing pleasure! #BBL11,” the official Twitter page of the cricket.com.au wrote while sharing a compilation of all sixes Maxwell has smashed so far in BBL. While the comment section got flooded with praises for the 33-year-old, Neesham, who’s known for his great sense of humour, took the opportunity to pull his former teammate’s leg.
“You got this video saved for those lonely nights@Gmaxi_32???” the southpaw tweeted. Maxwell came up with an even more epic response as he tweeted: “This or the videos of us during the IPL last year #careful,” he wrote. This exchange became viral in no time as fans were left in splits. Neesham also reacted by commenting: “Hahahaha.”
This or the videos of us during the IPL last year 🤣 #careful

Meanwhile, Maxwell has been at his best this year as several bowlers have become victims of his carnage. After a terrific campaign in IPL 2021, Glenn Maxwell extended his purple patch in the ongoing season of the BBL. With 163 runs, the Melbourne Stars batter is currently the third highest run-scorer of the season, behind the Sydney Sixers duo of Josh Philippe and Moises Henriques.
As mentioned above, he even reached the three-figure mark in the competition, scoring 103 against the Sixers. His efforts, however, went in vain as the defending champions chased down the 178-run target.
