SCA to felicitate its Test cricketers ahead of the start of first Test between India and England

The Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, Gujarat will host the first Test of the India vs England five-Test series on the occasion, the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium (SCA) has planned to felicitate some of the greatest sons from the region. Former Indian cricketers Dhiraj Parsana, Karsan Ghavri, Yajurvindra Singh, Dilip Doshi and Salim Durani along with two members of the current Indian team top order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

The felicitation will be organized before the start of the first Test that will be played from November 9 to 13. SCA secretary Niranjan Shah said, “These are the players who have played for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy. The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Vijay Rupani will felicitate them. We are also trying to make special merchandise to commemorate the first Test at Rajkot,”

The English team will fly to Mumbai later this week and will have just one nets session at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in Mumbai on November 5. They will they make their way to Rajkot the venue for the opening Test. England will not play any practice matches ahead of the start of the series since they recently played a two-Test series in Bangladesh which ended at levels 1-1 and has given them a pretty decent idea of how the wickets and conditions in the subcontinent are at this time of the year.

Having won the five-match ODI series against New Zealand 3-2 the Indian players are enjoying some time off the game with their families celebrating Diwali. They will reassemble and will reach Rajkot on November 5. Virat Kohli & Co. will start training and practice sessions from November 6.

Team India under Kohli and coach Anil Kumble would like to continue their dominance in the longer format at home given and the English team should better be prepared to tackle the Indian spin twin of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja given how they fared against Mehedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan in Bangladesh.
