Indian batting sensation who stole all the limelight after recent performance against Australia, Harmanpreet Kaur is all set to receive accolades from Railways. Kaur scored an unbeaten inning of 171 off just 115 to knock the defending champions Australia out of the competition. She played a majority of her cricket while representing Railways. The Railways have also decided to promote Kaur. She is currently employed as Chief Office Superintendent in Mumbai
Apart from Kaur, the members of the current Indian squad are skipper Mithali Raj, Veda Krishnamurthy, Ekta Bisht, Punam Raut, Poonam Yadav, Sushma Devi, Mona Mesharm, Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Nuzhat Parveen represent Railways. Harmanpreet Kaur’s blitzkrieg was appreciated and lauded by who’s who of men’s cricket as well. Yuvraj Singh, Steve Smith, Virender Sehwag, Anil Kumble, Sachin Tendulkar and many others.

India now takes on home side England in the finals which is scheduled to be held at Lord’s in front of a sellout crowd. Indian women defeated the home side in Derby in their very first match of the tournament. “Certainly, we would recommend her name to the Railway Ministry for promotion. We will also felicitate her when she comes back home. Whenever our players show excellence or perform outstandingly in international events, we recommend their names for promotion” said the Chief PRO of Western Railways, Ravinder Bhakar, according to The Hindu.
“Railways women cricketers have always been in the forefront and the current national team is no exception. As many as 10 players from the current 15-member team (taking part in the World Cup) are from Railways.This is due to the robust domestic schedule and facilities such as 330 days special leave for dedicated training being provided by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB),” claimed a senior official of Central Railway, Sunil Udasoi.
