Afghanistan and Ireland are scheduled to play a two-match ODI series that gets underway tomorrow at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh. The Afghans are a part of the most-awaited World Cup in England and Wales, where they’ll start the campaign against Australia in Bristol on Saturday, June 1. The team recently removed Asghar Afghan as the ODI captain and appointed all-rounder Gulbadin Naib and this will be his first outing as skipper.
This is a golden chance for Afghanistan to get their combination in place. From their previous ODI series against Ireland, the visitors would’ve got a lot of confidence, though it ended in a tie. However, the Scots won’t be an easy proposition for them. Last year, Scotland took down England in Edinburgh and players like Richie Berrington, Kyle Coetzer, Matthew Cross and Callum Macleod add value to the side.
Match Details
The 1st ODI between Scotland and Afghanistan will be hosted by the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh.
