We are in the last week of the group stages of IPL 2019 and so far Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals have qualified, leaving the remaining three spots up for grabs. What’s even more interesting is that all teams possibly have a claim at the remaining two spots among the top four. Former Kiwi all-rounder Scott Styris has given out his final prediction for the standings at the end of the league stages.

Scott went with MI as the table-toppers while he has CSK (2 currently), DC (currently 1) and SRH at the second, third and fourth spots respectively. While it may surprise a few seeing RCB (8) at the bottom of the table with them having won 3 of their last 5 games and KKR (10) and who have lost their last 6 games (before the game vs MI) at the 5th spot, Punjab (10) have moved down to the 6th position and Rajasthan (10) to the 7th in Scott’s predicted group stages rankings (power rankings).

While there is in line with the current league standings, it remains to be seen if KKR can actually make it to the 5th spot (given their current form) and will Punjab miss out on a playoffs spot yet again. While RCB’s position in the current league standings is 8, they might move up given that they have been playing a positive brand of cricket in their last few games.

As of now, each game for the likes of KKR, RR and RCB is a knock-out fixture almost every time they play and it will be interesting to see how they go about it. With the race to the playoffs intensifying with each game, it remains to be seen which teams will be in the final four and unless we are in store for a surprise, Scott’s prediction might just hold true.
