Security arrangements are very good in Pakistan: Thisara Perera
Sri Lanka lost the Lahore T20I against Pakistan by 36 runs
Sri Lanka’s T20I skipper Thisara Perera has praised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the impressive security arrangements for the third and final T20I match in Lahore. The Sri Lankan team arrived in Pakistan amid tight security and were taken to the team hotel without much delay. There was a bomb-proof bus with hundreds of elite police commandos and the paramilitary rangers to ensure no hiccups.
It was the first time that the Lankans were visiting Pakistan after the horrific terror attack on the Sri Lankan team bus outside the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore, in the year 2009. Several visiting team’s players including Upul Tharanga and Veteran pacer Lasith Malinga ruled themselves out of the Lahore match but SLC were very supportive.
Perera was impressed with the security
“Security arrangements are very good and we are happy to be in Pakistan and among the Pakistani people, who are friendly and cricket-lovers,” said the Lankan skipper Perera. He said it was a big honour for him to play cricket in Pakistan and to lead a young Lankan side.
“As a captain, I am enjoying playing cricket and my team is improving with each game; our players are though young yet they are strong and they have the will to demonstrate good cricket skills,” he added
It was not Perera’s first visit to the country, the all-rounder was part of the World XI side that played a 3-match T20I series against Pakistan in Lahore, last month.“I was there in Lahore with the World XI last month and I was very impressed with the security that was given to the players,” he is quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, “We were given security that is given to a Head of State. We were there for six days and were very impressed with the arrangements,” he told Cricbuzz.
