The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken a significant measure in order to resume international cricket in the country of Pakistan. A security company has been employed by the board which will help them in going about the process. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Najam Sethi, who took up the position recently, confirmed the news stating that the hiring of the security company is a big leap towards ending the international drought in Pakistan.
Sethi also said that the security company will visit the nation on the last week of August or the first week of September. Sethi informed that it is a reputed company and is based in three countries – the United Kingdom, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates.
What Najam Sethi had to say:
”It’s a step by the ICC for the revival of international cricket in Pakistan. The company is based in three countries – the United Kingdom, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates – and has a good repute,” Najam Sethi was quoted by The Dawn.
“A representative of the Federation of International Cricketers (FICA) will accompany the security company to personally monitor the security situation in Lahore,” Sethi added.
According to Sethi, the security company will be here in Pakistan for a span of 4 days to enquire whether the country will be able to provide the necessary security measures to the visiting teams or not.
”It will be a four-day visit where the security company will work with the government of Punjab to get assurances that all the recommendations submitted by security experts of the different countries who visited Lahore to watch the final of the second Pakistan Super League (PSL) season have been incorporated by the government in its SOPs, or not,” Sethi said.
The security team will tour Pakistan every year for the enquiry process and will receive a hefty amount of US$400,000 from the ICC on every visit, confirmed Najam Sethi.
Najam Sethi also claimed that Sri Lanka had sent a delegation to Pakistan during the PSL final and he returned with positive feedbacks about the security measurements taken by Pakistan. It is because of that reason that the Sri Lankan board has agreed to send its players to Pakistan for a short T20 series.
