Sehwag was one of the best openers in the world: Mashrafe Mortaza
Mashrafe Mortaza is not paying any heed to Sehwag's comments regarding Bangladesh.
India will take on Bangladesh in the second semi-final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 on Thursday. While the Men in Blue are considered as favourites, one can hardly afford to take Bangladesh lightly after their stunning win against New Zealand. But Virender Sehwag is that sort of a person who does not like to hide his feelings. According to him, Bangladesh will be not match to India.
The former Indian opener is synonymous with controversy. He grabbed the limelight once again with a tweet which said: “What a great victory for India. Solid performance. Good luck for the semi-finals and finals.” Many Bangladeshi fans were offended by this comment, but their skipper Mashrafe Mortaza is not paying any heed to Sehwag’s comments. “I don’t really care what anyone or Sehwag said,” said the Jessore-born player in a pre-match press conference.
One of the best openers in the world
Mashrafe also mentioned that the Nawab of Najafgarh was one of the best openers in the world. “He is without any doubt one of the best opener ever in the history of cricket. Kind of innings that he played, unbelievable,” said the leader of 16 crores. Former Pakistani wicket-keeper Khalid Latif also bashed Sehwag for his comments on Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Sehwag termed Bangladesh as India’s grandchild while related Pakistan as son. Known for the straight-forward attitude, Viru said he has no doubts in his mind about India’s qualification for the finals of the mega cricketing event. In such a match, it is difficult for the fans to keep a check on the tension.
But with the instigating comments from the Kings XI Punjab mentor, a social media war has already started between the cricket loyalists of both the nations. It is up to the 22 players now who will take the field at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
