Water is a renewable resource and hence, people from around the globe tend to take things for granted and waste the resource. The World Water Day, which is an annual observance day on March 22, is celebrated in order to create awareness surrounding the significance of freshwater. The inaugural Water Day by the United Nations was commemorated in 1993.

Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricketer, seems highly concerned by the treatment of water by the commoners around the world. The Mumbai cricketer recently took to Twitter, a popular social media platform, and dropped a message pertaining to the significance of conserving the resource.

Here’s what he wrote:

I was in Cape Town just a few months ago and could clearly see that the water we take for granted isn’t infinitely available. Let’s all respect the importance of water and understand how we can conserve it and make a difference #WorldWaterDay

A topsy-turvy phase for Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma’s form hasn’t been overwhelming over the past few months. He played the Test series in South Africa, where he struggled to find his feet on wickets which are conducive to seam bowling. Subsequently, he was dropped and fellow Mumbai batsman Ajinkya Rahane replaced him. Though he managed to notch a century at Port Elizabeth, he faltered during the remainder of the series. He started the Nidahas Trophy with a couple of lackluster performances.

However, he stormed back and played a couple of stupendous knocks during the final stage of the tournament. The cricketer has recently been retained by the Mumbai Indians franchise for the eleventh season of the Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians are the defending champions and have won the championship on three occasions under the leadership of Rohit. The franchise would again be pinning hopes on the Indian cricketer for another impressive season.
