The Indian captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma, on Monday, donated an undisclosed amount to the PM CARES and Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The Indian cricketing fraternity is pledging its support in every possible way amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. India has so far more than 1000 positive cases in the country at the moment and there is a possibility of the number going up with the testing increasing in the coming days.
Keeping in mind the need for social distancing, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown last week. But the daily wage workers and their families were left stranded. However, certain foundations, organisations and the cricketers along with the celebrities have come forward to help them during these tough times.
At the same time, Narendra Modi also announced the PM CARES relief fund urging the people of the nation to donate in any way possible. All these funds will be used to improve the situation in the country now, may it be for the healthcare system or for the poor and needy people.
Virat Kohli stands out amongst all
Virat Kohli isn’t the first cricketer to donate to the relief funds. But he is definitely the first, along with his Anushka Sharma, who hasn’t disclosed the donated amount. The 31-year-old himself took to Twitter to make an announcement regarding the same and won the hearts of the fans. Rather Twitterati is praising him even more for not disclosing the amount while a few are interested in knowing the amount as well.
“Anushka and I are pledging our support towards PM-CARES Fund & the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (Maharashtra). Our hearts are breaking looking at the suffering of so many & we hope our contribution, in some way, helps easing the pain of our fellow citizens #IndiaFightsCorona,” Kohli’s tweet read.

While there is no harm in disclosing the amount as the other cricketers have done, Kohli has once again led from the front in style. Apart from him, the BCCI has pledged to donate a whopping amount of Rs 51 crore while its president Sourav Ganguly has also donated rice of worth Rs 50 lakhs for the poor people.
Earlier, Suresh Raina, Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan and Yusuf Pathan also decided to help the needy people in their own ways and set an example in front of others. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is being praised on social media for taking a generous step.
