The fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League is slated to begin with a bang from February 20. This will be the first time the whole of the tournament will be hosted in Pakistan with four cities- Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan being chosen as venues for the encounters.
Since its inception in 2016, the majority of the tournament, in fact, the whole league was played in UAE due to security concerns in Pakistan. But in the last two seasons, the semi-finals and final of the PSL were played in Pakistan, which saw a huge surge in the audience in the stadiums with people seeing their favourite stars in front of them.
The success of PSL has led to it is often compared to the likes of Indian Premier League and the Big Bash League of Australia, which are considered to be the top two T20 leagues in the world, with the IPL becoming one of the Top-10 sporting events in the world and a big brand value as well. This comparison perhaps was not known to Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan, who feels the quality of bowling in PSL makes it even better than IPL and BBL.
“I have played in many leagues around the world but standard wise I think PSL is the best especially because every team has bowlers who can bowl in excess of 140 kph, which is something that you don’t see in other leagues of the world,” said Shadab as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Shadab Khan set to lead Islamabad United in PSL 2020
He will be leading the two-time champions Islamabad United in the upcoming season. There is truth in Shadab’s statement that the bowlers, especially local bowlers in PSL are quite talented and some of them have gone onto represent Pakistan at the international level as well. Shaheen Afridi, Faheem Ashraf, Naseem Shah, Usman Shinwari and many others have gotten their break in PSL and have impressed others as well.
But Shadab’s word claiming that PSL was the best T20 league in the world didn’t go down well with many fans on Twitter, when the obvious fact is that the IPL is way ahead when it comes to all factors which determine the success- audience numbers, TRP, global coverage and reach and the biggest of all, revenue.
The users on the social messaging site took to trolling Shadab Khan for his statement about PSL and here’s how Twitter reacted:

I can understand, he says out of all leagues 'he has played' PSL is best, according to him.
