Shah Rukh Khan obliges to the request from his captain Dinesh Karthik

Kolkata Knight Riders have had an indifferent season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, they’ve six out of the 12 matches and still need at least 4 more points to secure their top four spot. They had their moments and somewhere the team couldn’t capitalize. And at a time where not just a win but the net run rate also makes a lot of difference, Dinesh Karthik’s team lost to Mumbai Indians by a huge margin.

MI enjoy extreme supremacy over the Knights and they continued that at the Eden Gardens. Both the teams were in a situation where they didn’t want to settle for anything but a win. Batting first Mumbai posted 210 runs on the board and asked KKR to chase that down. None of the ‘big hitters’ in the Kolkata team got going and they rather crumbled under pressure.

Karthik’s team lasted just 18.1 over and was bowled out for 108 runs thus suffering a 102-run defeat. It was the kind of win that thumped their NRR and MI surged past them to No.4 on the points table. But that didn’t steal away the momentum from the Knight Riders. Next-up they faced Kings XI Punjab who were at the third spot and though have been wobbly in the second half possess a really dangerous team.

KKR were batting first this time and from Sunil Narine to captain Karthik creamed the Kings XI bowlers to post their highest total in the league. 245 is a winning total any day and it proved to be enough for the Men in Purple and Gold as they secured a 31-run win with a lot of ease.

Team owner Shah Rukh Khan was quite disappointed after the defeat at the hands of MI however, his captain DK asked him to smile and the team gave him enough reasons to smile after the win over KXIP.
