Pakistan Super League 2020 turned out to be a bigger success than expected for PCB and country. They got some promising players that can go onto become the future stars of Pakistan cricket. During the tournament, Shaheen Shah Afridi did exceedingly well for his team. And, now Azhar Mahmood, the former player has opened up over the same saying he is currently the best fast bowler in the country.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, the left-hand pacer made his debut back in 2018 and he has turned into the strike bowler for his national team in a very short span of time. So far, he has grabbed a total of 86 wickets across all the formats. Recently, he had an impressive sting in PSL 2020 in which he played for Lahore Qalandars.
Afridi scalped a total of 13 wickets in 9 games at a brilliant economy of 7.02. And, he is expected to play a vital role when Pakistan cricket team will travel to Australia for the upcoming T20 World Cup that is slated to begin from October.
Azhar Mahmood heaps praise on Shaheen Shah Afridi
Now, Azhar Mahmood, the former player has come out praising the youngster. Azhar stated that Shaheen Afridi has improved a lot since he joined the national side. Even, he feels that the 19-year-old is currently the best fast bowler in the country.
Azhar also added that Shaheen Shah Afridi is one of the best and it is good to watch that the youngster has so proved him right. But, the team management needs to take care of the special bowler, who has all the attributes to become one of the best in the history of Pakistan cricket.
“I have seen Shaheen Shah Afridi’s progress at close quarters from the time he became part of the Pakistan setup. I have always said that to me, he is one of the best young fast-bowlers Pakistan has at the moment. And I am glad that my view has not been proven wrong based upon the way he is currently bowling. I feel that he is a special bowler, but we need to take care of him and more importantly, he needs to look after himself too,” Azhar Mahmood wrote in his column for PakPassion.
