Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has shared an update on his plans of getting married. Earlier this year, rumours of the 21-year-old speedster getting married to former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s daughter did the rounds on social media.

Later, the retired national all-rounder confirmed the news on his official Twitter handle. The Khyber Agency-born Shahid Afridi said that the ‘Afridis’ have eight tribes and both he and Shaheen belong to different tribes.

The veteran had also said that Shaheen’s parents had the desire of converting their relationship into formal ones. However, in an interview with Daily Jang on Tuesday, Shaheen said that he’s in no hurry to enter the wedlock.

The pacer has set his goals straight of focussing on cricket for the time being. When asked if his female supporters will face heartbreak on his marriage, Shaheen smiled and refrained from making a comment.

I am not focused on breaking any fast bowler’s records: Shaheen Shah Afridi

As of now, Shaheen is the fulcrum of the Pakistan fast bowling attack across all three formats. However, of late, reports of giving him adequate rest have been hitting the headlines. On his fitness, Afridi said that there’s no issue regarding the same.

“I inform the team management whenever I feel I need to be rested. I am completely fit right now. The team management knows best when to give which player ample amount of rest,” Afridi was quoted as saying.

The youngster also didn’t wish to burden himself with goals of breaking other pacers’ records. Rather, he wanted to focus on his longevity of playing at the highest level.

“I am not focused on breaking any fast bowler’s records for the simple reason that records will always keep on breaking. I always try to keep myself completely fit and play for longer durations for Pakistan,” he stated.

Afridi also reckoned that the appointment of Ramiz Raja as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) can work wonders.

“Imran Khan as prime minister and Ramiz Raja as chairman of the PCB will benefit Pakistan cricket. I met Imran Khan before the 2019 cricket World Cup. I haven’t had the pleasure to meet him separately,” Afridi added.
