Shahid Afridi confirms wedding of his eldest daughter with Shaheen Shah Afridi

The news of former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi and young pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi forming a new relationship has been floating in the cricket fraternity for quite some time now. There were strong rumors that Shahid’s eldest daughter Aqsa will be getting engaged to Shaheen. 

The rumor of a potential relationship between Aqsa and Shaheen started doing rounds in March 2021 when a news channel reported that Shaheen Afridi’s father Ayaz Khan revealed sending the proposal to Shahid Afridi’s family and it was accepted as well. The report further added that the left-arm pacer’s career has just taken off while Afridi’s eldest daughter Aqsa is still studying and things could materialize in two years’ time.

Amidst the speculations, the former Pakistan captain has made the big announcement that both the families have decided to go ahead with the alliance, and his daughter Aqsa will be entering marital bliss with the young speedster. While making the big announcement, Shahid clarified that Shaheen had no relationship with his daughter before this development.

The veteran reckoned that the two families belong to different tribes and didn’t share any relationship with each other before the alliance. Speaking about it further, Afridi revealed that Shaheen’s parents were quite keen about making his daughter their daughter-in-law and were of the view that both the families should convert acquaintances into a formal relationship

 “We Afridis have eight tribes, Shaheen and we belong to different tribes,” the former captain said as quoted by Geo TV.

When asked about the dates of the wedding, the former skipper asserted that both Shaheen and Aqsa are presently focusing on their career. Shahid revealed that his daughter is on the way to become a doctor and is yet to make a decision regarding whether she wants to pursue her education in Pakistan or England.

Both Shaheen and Shahid share a cordial relationship professionally. Both have played against each other in the Pakistan Super League. The all-rounder and pacer were up against each other in the now-suspended sixth edition of the T20 Championship. While the pace bowler Shaheen plays for Lahore Qalandars, the all-rounder Shahid Afridi features for Multan Sultans.
