Shahid Afridi entertained cricket fans a long time while he wore the green jersey of Pakistan, with his free-flowing style of batting and attacking bowling. Since his retirement, the ‘Boom Boom’ has set many franchise T20 competitions all over the world on fire. The 37-year-old has played for many T2o teams all over the world like Deccan Chargers, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Melbourne Renegades, Hampshire and Rangpur Riders.
Even at this age, the all-rounder is a big asset to any side in which he plays. Recently it was announced that he will feature in the recently announced T10 competition, which is scheduled to be held in United Arab Emirates (UAE) later this year. While many retired greats of the game will feature in that tournament, what came as a pleasant surprise for many followers of the game was that he will continue to feature in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The man himself has declared him fit to play PSL. “I am fit and I will be here for the Pakistan Super League and the upcoming T10 cricket at the Sharjah Stadium again. I am enjoying playing in the Pakistan Super League and Bangladesh Premier League. I am fit enough for league cricket. I will be here as Karachi Kings player in the PSL (not his previous team Peshawar Zalmi),” Afridi told Gulf News Pakistan.
It would have been great if Indian players too had played for World XI
For the umpteenth time, the owner of 932 T20I runs said that he would have loved to see Indian cricketers wearing the World XI jersey, when they toured Pakistan.
“By staging the World XI match, we have put out a strong message (that Pakistan is perfectly safe for cricket) and I like to thank all World XI players. It would have been great if Indian players too had played for World XI,” he opined.
