Shahid Afridi encounters Visa problems ahead of Abu Dhabi T10 league
Now, Afridi has headed back to Pakistan, has got his Visa updated, and he will return back to the UAE to take part in the fourth edition of the league.
The blockbuster Abu Dhabi T10 league is all set to get underway on January 28, 2021. The tournament will be played just for 10 days and will consist of a total of 29 matches. The 2021 edition will be the fourth season of cricket’s newest format.
Several big names from the cricketing world will be taking part in the tournament. Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Imran Tahir, Dwayne Bravo, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Chris Gayle, Alex Hales and of course, Shahid Afridi will be some of the top names that will feature in the tournament. But then, as far as Afridi is concerned, there are some Visa problems that the 40-year-old might be facing.
It has been reported that Afridi’s Residential UAE Visa has already expired. The Pakistan all-rounder noticed it only after landing in Abu Dhabi. Now, Afridi has headed back to Pakistan, has got his Visa updated, and he will return back to the UAE to take part in the fourth edition of the league.
Abu Dhabi T10 is the future of cricket, says chairman of Ten Sports Management
The chairman of Ten Sports Management, Shaji Ul-Mulk was very confident of the success of the T10 format. He stated that the Abu Dhabi T10 league is the fastest format, is action-packed and is the future of the sport.
Shaji also added that some of the best cricketers in the world would be taking part in the tournament. He concluded by saying that the players who are taking part in the tournament also acknowledge the fact that the sport is evolving.
“Abu Dhabi T10 is the fastest action-packed format and the future of cricket. I am pleased to announce yet another exciting season 4 tournament schedule. We have the world’s best cricketers on the show – from West Indian superstars Chris Gayle and Dwayne ‘DJ’ Bravo to Pakistani legends Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik – who all attest to its appeal and to how cricket is quickly evolving,” Shaji was quoted as saying in Cricket Next.
The first match of the tournament will be played between the Maratha Arabians and the Northern Warriors. Meanwhile, Afridi will turn out for the Qalandars in the 2021 edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 league. The Qalanders are set to play their first match on January 29, 2021, when they clash with the Pune Devils.
