Shahid Afridi rates MS Dhoni as better captain than Ricky Ponting

Former Pakistan all-rounder was asked to make choice of better captain between MS Dhoni and Ricky Ponting.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the coolest players in the history of world cricket. The former team India skipper led the side for 10 years and his calm-minded approach won many games for the men in blue. It was under Dhoni’s leadership that India won the World T20 title in 2007, became the No.1 Test side. The team also went onto lift the World Cup in 2011 and Champions Trophy in 2013.

Dhoni has always been a crowd favorite and his fans are not just his teammates but also his some ace counterparts. He has always been praised for his captaincy and his ability to bring the best out of his players. MS has his fans all over the world and is ardently respected in the cricket fraternity. The Pakistan players are no different and have always praised MS and his captaincy skills.

Shahid Afridi puts onus on MS Dhoni

Shahid Afridi made his choice between MS Dhoni and Ricky Ponting as a greater captain. Afridi, who is also a former Pakistan captain, selected Dhoni as a better skipper over the previous Australian stalwart. He also declared the Indian great as the coolest captain till date in the world cricket. On Wednesday, Afridi took part in a Q&A session on Twitter.

A fan in the session asked, “Better captain Dhoni or Ponting? Lala choice.” To which Afridi replied, “I rate Dhoni a bit higher than Ponting as he developed a new team full of youngsters.”

Shahid Afridi heals Pakistan with charity work during COVID-19 pandemic

Afridi is actively involved in plenty of charity work in Pakistan during the COVID-19 pandemic. He, with the help of his Shahid Afridi Foundation, has been vigorously distributing ration in the rural areas of Pakistan over the last few months.

In this whole process, he himself got affected by the virus. His wife and daughters also tested positive at the same time. But on 2nd July he confirmed that he, his wife and his daughters are COVID-19 negative and have recovered from the disease.

He tweeted, “Alhamdulillah, my wife & daughters, Aqsa & Ansha have re-tested after our previously positive results for #COVIDー19, & are now clear. Thanking u all for your continuous well wishes, & may the Almighty bless you and yours. Now back to family time; I’ve missed holding this one.”
