Younis Khan in his latest appearance on Pakistan television disclosed about the incident where Shahid Afridi was under the scanner for scuffing up the pitch and revealed that it was under his instruction, Afridi went on to tamper with the pitch. The incident happened during England’s tour to Pakistan back in 2005 in the second match at Faisalabad. This was just one of the revelations he made in the up close and personal interview. He talked about the Bob Woolmer incident in detail by terming it has something forgetful.
Shahid Afridi attracted all sorts of a bad reputation for not following the spirit of the game as he intentionally scuffed up the pitch, thinking no one would notice amidst the distraction of play being stopped due to an explosion outside the boundary. However, the camera caught the man in the act, and Kevin Pieterson was quick to notice that and gave Afridi a mouthful.

The play was halted during England’s first innings when a soft drinks gas cylinder exploded at the side of the pitch. However, as mentioned by Younis Khan, it was under his direction that Shahid Afridi made the move. Shahid Afridi was handed over a ban of one Test match and 2 ODIs later
“During the match against England at Faisalabad when Afridi scuffed the pitch with his spikes, that was on my telling him to do it. He asked me “Lala ghoom jao” so I said “Lala ghoom jao”! I remember all the blame came on him but if you ask him, he will tell you I told him to do it! I didn’t even realise that the camera was exactly on the pitch at the time. We, humans, make these kinds of mistakes sometimes.” said Younis Khan according to PakPassion.net.
