Shahid Afridi slammed for his chauvinistic comment of not allowing his daughters to play cricket for religious reasons

Shahid Afridi has been in the headlines for quite some time now after his autobiography ‘Game Changer’ launched and hit the stalls. The flamboyant all-rounder’s book, which was released in India & Pakistan and have been causing quite a stir among both cricketing world and the general public as well, thanks to his frank and controversial opinions on various subjects.

He had called out Waqar Younis for his skills as both captain and coach of the Pakistani team, confused everyone by changing his year of birth while revealing his real age, claimed having knowledge of the 2010 spot-fixing beforehand and also picked a fight with former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir, as he called him a negative person in his book.

However, one of the most controversial statements that he has made was that he will not allow any of his four daughters to pursue a career in cricket or any outdoor sports for that matter, due to religious and social reasons.

“It’s for social and religious reasons that I’ve made this decision regarding my daughters not competing in public sporting activities and their mother agrees with me. The feminists can say what they want; as a conservative Pakistani father, I’ve made my decision,” Afridi has written in his book.

Afridi is a father to four daughters, Ansha, Asmara, Ajwa and Aqsa with wife Nadia. Apparently, his wife also agreed to Afridi’s ruling that his daughters cannot partake in any outdoor activities, but his comments have now come back to haunt him, as Twitterati took Afridi to the task and trolled him brutally for his views.
