Shahid Afridi trains Kashmir cricketer Mir Murtaza in Pakistan for three months

He stayed at Afridi's residence during his training.

Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi has helped Mir Murtaza who hails from Jammu & Kashmir and stays in Anantnag region. He was in Pakistan for three months and stayed in the all-rounder’s itself while he got tips from Afridi and also received training from him.

Murtaza went to Pakistan through the Wagah Border and made his way to Karachi. Shahid Afridi praised the 20-year-old cricketer and also offered help to him in the future whenever needed. Murtaza is the all-rounder’s big fan and the latter hoped that he becomes a successful cricketer. He also cleared that he is available for all the cricketers across the world who aspire to learn from him.

“Mir Murtaza is a talented cricketer. I am available for any cricketer in the world. I would welcome anyone who wants to learn from me. If Mir Murtaza wants to learn more in the future, I would teach him everything I know. I could also help him get the best coaching he requires.

“Mir Murtaza was the first Kashmiri to come from Occupied Kashmir and arrive at my house. He was a big fan. He is a very good boy. He has worked really hard. I hope he is successful in his passion,” Afridi was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Murtaza also stated that the charismatic all-rounder’s advice was very beneficial for him and he would like to get help from him in future too. “I would love to learn more from Shahid Afridi in the future. The things I have learned have been very beneficial for me,” Murtaza added.

Lahore Qalandars offer Murtaza to train at High Performance Center

Meanwhile, the Lahore Qalandars ’ Director Cricket Atif Naeem Rana has offered Mir Murtaza to train at their High-Performance Center. He also expressed his wish to invest in the talented cricketer soon after the pandemic is over. “Lahore Qalandars have always worked for youngsters by giving them a platform regardless of their place of residence. We created a ‘Pardesi Qalandars’ initiative through which Mir Murtaza arrived in Pakistan. He had talent which needed to be groomed.

“We have now created a high-performance centre for such individuals. Definitely, when the situation normalises we will invite these talented individuals to help them in the best of our capabilities,” Rana said.
