Shahid Afridi wants to play a one on one game against Chris Gayle
Afridi also congratulated the Universe Boss on equaling his most sixes record.
During the third One-Day International between Bangladesh and West Indies, Chris Gayle achieved a spectacular feat. During his innings of 73 (66), the swashbuckling opener went on to equal former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi’s record for hitting most sixes in international cricket. Both the batsman stand at the top with 476 sixes.
While Afridi achieved the feat in 524 games, Gayle completed the distinction in 443 international matches. Since the Pakistan all-rounder has retired from international cricket, Gayle in all probability will move up higher in the next outing. However, the Universe Boss is reluctant to continue hitting sixes hereafter.
I will hit no more sixes from now on
While he announced that it was a great feeling to share the record with Afridi, he jokingly conveyed that he would stop hitting sixes from now on. Addressing him as Boom Boom, Gayle portrayed how both of them are known to be big hitters and entertain the crowd with their maximums. He asked Afridi not to worry as his record was safe.
“To be able to tie with Afridi with 476 sixes is great. I think I’ll keep it at that & hit no more 6s. I think we’re both big 6-hitters, entertainers & it’s fantastic to be joint first with Shahid Afridi. So boom-boom, don’t worry, your record is safe, okay”
Afridi calls for a one on one match with Gayle
Shahid Afridi also joined in to congratulate the big man. While he remarked that Gayle richly deserves to reach the landmark, he even came up with a challenge. He wants to play a one on one game where the stipulation will be to hit the most number of sixes.
“No worries at all in the Universe Boss taking over my record! Richly deserved, hope to play a single wicket match with you one day, let’s see who hits more 6s and there should be no rules for getting OUT! @henrygayle”
