Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan’s anger and lost temper came on the table while he displayed rage in one of the matches of the Dhaka Premier League. He got banned for three matches for kicking the stumps and indulging in a heated conversation in a match against Abahani limited. The ace all-rounder was also made to pay a fine of Tk 5 lakhs by the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolitan (CCDM).

He has to miss three matches and if all goes well, he would return to the field to ply trade against Gazi Group cricketers on June 17. However, as per the latest reports, it has been reported that the Bangladeshi cricketer would not like to continue his stint in Dhaka Premier League. He has appealed to the authorities to set a plane for him to the United States of America.

“I can’t say for sure whether it is his last match. However, we have already received a letter from Shakib. He has been in the bio bubble since March and has been away from his family for a long time,” said Selim Shahed, secretary of the club’s cricket committee said as quoted by Cricfrenzy.

“We have not yet made a decision on his letter. Because it is not my decision alone. Everyone will sit together and discuss this issue and then the final decision will be taken. For now, after today’s match, everything will be finalized,” he added.

Shakib Al Hasan Hasan issued a public apology later

“Dear fans and followers, I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home. An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens, unfortunately.

“I apologise to the teams, management, tournament officials, and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won’t be repeating this again in future. Thanks and love you all,” added Shakib.

After the Dhaka Premier League, the Bangladesh team is expected to tour Zimbabwe on June 29. The tour is yet to be finalized as only a few days back Zimbabwe Cricket banned all sporting activities due to the peak of COVID-19 in the nation.
