There is absolutely no stopping Virat Kohli at the moment. The India skipper had a poor start to 2019 as far as ODIs were concerned. He was out for a rare single-digit score as Australia beat India by 34 runs in the first ODI at the SCG. However, the batting superstar, on Tuesday, once again showed why he is the best batsman in the world right now. The right-hander came up with yet another classic knock to fire India to a series-levelling win.
Batting first, Australia piled up 298 for 5 courtesy a fine ton from Shaun Marsh. But unlike the first ODI, Australia never looked in command while defending the total as Kohli kept India well on top throughout. He was eventually dismissed after scoring 104 before MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik took India home.
Kohli now has 39 ODI tons and trails the legendary Sachin Tendulkar by just 10 centuries. The latest ton was also his sixth ODI hundred against Australia. Only Tendulkar (9) and Rohit Sharma (7) have scored more ODI centuries against the team from Down Under. Kohli also has a mind-boggling 24 tons in chases.
Warne goes gaga over Kohli:
Kohli has been showered with praise for his masterclass in Adelaide and legendary spinner Shane Warne has also joined the chorus. The former Australia spinner took to Twitter and hailed Kohli and called him a legend. He also had a word of praise for Shaun Marsh who scored 131.
“Another great 100 from the legend @imVkohli One of the all time great players – congrats And congrats to Shaun Marsh to on a terrific 100 in tough conditions,” tweeted Warne.
