Former Australian speedster Brett Lee revealed his reactions along with his father’s words on hearing the sudden demise of spin wizard Shane Warne. Having visited a hotel in Thailand for a holiday, Warne is suspected to have gone through a heart attack and it brought an end to one of the greatest spinners, the game has ever seen. The whole cricketing fraternity got shattered with the news while Ricky Ponting recently could not stop his tears on the mourning day of the legend.

Warne picked up more than 1000 international wickets across formats and he is the second-highest wicket-taker in Test history to date. The leg spinner bowled some magical deliveries in his 15-year international stint from 1992 to 2007 and was a fantastic reader of the game as well.

Brett Lee highlights the first impression of hearing news about Shane Warne

Lee noted that he was with his parents when the news occurred at midnight as England’s Graeme Swann texted the former that he could not believe the news about Warne. Lee explained the situation that at first, he wondered what had Warne done and then later went on to find on Google that Warne is no more.

“Shane Warne, 52 years of age. I was staying at my parents’ house when I found about 1.30 AM. I got a text from an English spin bowler Graeme Swann. He said, ‘I can’t believe the news about Warny. My first impression was that ‘what has done now?’ And I really hoped that was the case. And then when I went to Google, I read Shane Warne had died,” Lee told BBC.

Lee highlighted that his father had concluded the next morning Warne will always live in the minds of people and there is no end to him. Meanwhile, Lee is among the quickest bowlers to have played the game and enjoyed a lot of success for Australia in the mid-2000s notably towards the end of Warne’s international career.

“My father summed up the next morning when he came downstairs and said, ‘Shane Warne can’t die. It’s Warny.’ That’s the feeling here everyone in Australia has,” he added.
