India won their maiden Test series in Australia to become the first Asian team to achieve this feat Down Under. The performance of the entire Aussie team is being criticized by the media and experts alike. While most feel they’d have done much better if the tainted duo was still with the team. Shane Warne, arguably the greatest leg-spinner of all time has expressed his grief over the same and thinks to revive the team they don’t just need the duo of Steve Smith and David Warner back in the setup but it calls for a complete overhaul.
Former English cricketer Michael Vaughn wrote an article on the problems that Australia team faces and that they would not be solved only with the availability of Smith and Warner. Although Aussie legend Mark Waugh disagreed with that and explained how the absence of even one single world-class batsman can affect a team.
“I’m not so sure about that Mr.Vaughan. Assuming Warner and Smith get back to somewhere near there best I’m suggesting they will make a huge difference. You take the 2 best batsmen out of any cricket team in the world and see what happens or even 1. Kohli, Root, Williamson etc.” Mark wrote.

Warne agreed with what Vaughan said, “Unfortunately, I have to agree with @MichaelVaughan here Jnr. Yes Warner & Smith will help, but Aust cricket needs a complete overhaul re the following. Coaching at all levels, the ridiculous under 23 programme, academy etc. As we are not producing quality smart cricketers-why ?”
Warne questions decisions
Warne couldn’t stop from pointing out how bad Australia performed throughout the series. He questioned the ability of Australian cricket to produce young talented batsmen. He mentioned how all the pacers couldn’t manage one lbw in the four Tests.
“Not one LBW for the quick bowlers in the series and not 1 hundred by any batsman. Where are all the young batsman ? Shield cricket has turned into a game where players are pulled out whenever they feel like it. Grade cricket is going backwards ! Who’s making these decisions ?” he further added.

Once the most dominant force of world cricket, Australia were visibly struggling in the recently concluded Test series against India. The return of Steve Smith and David Warner who are set to make a comeback after serving a yearlong ban will give them a much-needed boost. But how the team gets back on track, is something we’ll have to wait and see.
