Former Australian cricketer, Shane Warne, passed away on March 4th due to a suspected heart attack. While there was not much information on his passing initially, there have been further details revealed since the cricketer’s demise less than 24 hours ago. Reportedly, four of Warne’s friends tried their hardest to resuscitate him to no avail. The cricketer was at his villa in Koh Samui, Thailand for a planned three-month vacation at the time of his death.
According to the Thai police, Warne along with his three other friends was staying in a private villa. When the cricketer was late in his arrival for a planned outing, one of his friends went to inquire about him and discovered that the cricketer had suffered from a heart attack. He then proceeded to do CPR on him before the medical staff arrived.
“The friend did CPR on him and called an ambulance,” Chatchawin Nakmusik, an officer with the Bo Put police said according to India Today.
Both his friends and the medical staff failed to revive the cricketer
Besides Warne’s friend’s initial attempts, the emergency response unit on the scene also tried to revive the cricketer. They carried another CPR on the cricketer for around 20 minutes. He was then taken to the Thai International Hospital where he was declared dead, after the last attempt at yet another CPR which lasted five minutes.
“An emergency response unit then arrived and did another CPR for 10-20 minutes. Then an ambulance from the Thai International Hospital arrived and took him there. They did CPR for five minutes, and then he died,” Nakmusik added.
The untimely death of the star cricketer has left everyone in and around cricket in a state of shock. Shane Warne was just 52 at the time of his passing. Notably, another Australian cricket legend in Rodney Marsh had passed away less than 24 hours before the reputed bowler’s demise.
