Shane Watson ecstatic to join the Karachians
Watson recently played for CSK in the IPL.
Shane Watson is deemed to be one of the most efficient all-rounders to have played the game of cricket. He was a fulcrum of the Australian team till the 2016 World T20 in India after which he decided to hang his boots from international cricket. However, he has continued plying his trade in the domestic circuit as well as in T20 tournaments around the globe.
He has also represented quite a few teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He started his career for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2008 and was declared as the Player of the Tournament in the inaugural season itself. Thereafter he played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) where he couldn’t taste much success and was subsequently released by his franchise.
Watson’s turnaround
Nevertheless, the veteran displayed impressive form in the Big Bash League (BBL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in this edition’s IPL. He strained with his fitness but ensured that it doesn’t affect his performance to a large extent. The 36-year old didn’t bowl much but ensured that he contributed enough with the willow to help CSK to their third title.
He pulled off a couple of centuries, one of which came in the Grand Finale. The retired cricketer will now take part in the T10 League, which has been approved by the Emirates Cricket Board. Watson has joined the Karachians, a team owned by Mohsin Imran, Director of Artistic Properties and co-owner of Karachians. After his signing, Watson expressed his joy on Twitter. He wrote
“I am super excited to be part of the new T10 League team@Karachianst10. Thank you Artistic Properties, the owners of Team Karachians, for giving me this opportunity.! #Karachians #yehkhelhamarahai #t10league”
