Shane Watson excited to join Dhaka Dynamites, connects with fans
Dhaka Dynamites have roped in the star all-rounder for the upcoming edition of the BPL.
Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson has expressed his happiness on joining the Dhaka Dynamite side for the fifth edition of the BPL. Watson has wished the franchise through a video message. He also expressed his thoughts on playing in front of the Bangladesh crowd and his previous experience of touring the country.
The 36-year old all-rounder had retired from all forms of the game last year, as is currently busy playing the franchise cricket. He took part in the CPL, and also led the St.Lucia Stars during the fag end of the tournament. Watson replaced Darren Sammy, after a string of losses, but the franchise could not recover from the losses and ended the season without a single victory.
Dhaka have also roped in Shahid Afridi. The former Pakistan cricketer had to give away his Global T20 contract in order to play in the BPL. Afridi was among the 90 players shortlisted for the Global T20 League to be played in South Africa in November this year. However later, Afridi took to social media to announce that he would miss out on the inaugural edition of the league.
Watson connects with fans
Greeting all the fans, Watson said, “I’m really excited about joining Dhaka Dynamites for this year’s BPL. I’ve got incredible memories of my last year’s tour to Bangladesh making my highest one day score there.”
“Hope I can continue with that bit of form. I know how passionate local Bangladeshi cricket fans are. I’m excited to play in front of the Dhaka Dynamites’ fans. Come and join with the excitement of BPL,” he said. He ended the clip by saying the popular slogan ‘Jitbe Dhaka, dekbe desh.”
Clearly, the BPL will not lose out on power play when it comes to star attractions, as they have roped in some big names for the fifth edition.
