The next edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is expected to be a magnanimous season with the who’s who of International cricket throwing their hat in the ring for the star-studded draft, scheduled to take place next month. The likes of Jason Roy, Dale Steyn, Hashim Amla, and Shane Watson are among the many overseas stars who have registered themselves in the platinum category of the PSL draft.

Among all these names, the former Australian all-rounder is one of the most sought-after Twenty20 globetrotters in the world. Watson has been a regular in the Pakistan Super League since its inception and is looking forward to once again playing in the marquee franchise league.

The Chennai Super Kings opener is excited to travel to Pakistan and play in front of the cricket fanatics. Speaking to Geo News, Watson reminisced about his experience of leading his franchise Quetta Gladiators to their maiden Pakistan Super League title, admitting that it was one of the highlights of his career.

“I can’t wait to come back to Pakistan and play in season five. I had an amazing experience in Karachi during the last PSL. To be able to connect with the cricket-loving fans in Pakistan and experience Quetta Gladiators winning their first PSL was an amazing experience and one of the highlights of my career.” Watson said.

Shane Watson had a great last season for the Gladiators

The former Australian stalwart, Shane Watson has been a regular in all the four seasons of the PSL. The 38-year-old finished as the highest run-getter in the past season where he racked up 430 runs in 12 matches at a whirlwind strike-rate of 143.81 and an average of 43 which was the highest amongst the top-five run-getters. The all-rounder also scored four half-centuries in the process.

He may have kept the crowds on their feet with the bat in his hand, but it was really his exploits with the bowl against Peshawar Zalmi in the Qualifiers that turned out to be his shining moment of the season. Shane Watson successfully defended 21 runs against the pair of Kieron Pollard and Darren Sammy. The much-talked-about PSL draft will take place at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on December 06.
