The T20 format has revolutionised cricket a lot. Even though Test cricket is the purest format of the game, the T20s have generated more interest among the fans and that he has even made the batsmen believe that they can even score down around 15 runs per over in the death overs. The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) has already witnessed the overs of close to 30 runs multiple times.

With so many T20 leagues going on, there have been a lot of batsmen who taken a liking to the format and former Australia cricketer Shane Watson has picked top five T20 batters of all-time. Watson is currently in the UAE to play for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL. However, he had made a video picking the top five T20 batsmen of all time back in August on his Youtube Channel back in August when no cricket was being played.

The first cricketer he picked was the West Indian legend Chris Gayle which is not surprising at all. The Universe Boss has played the T20 Leagues almost all over the world featuring in a whopping 404 matches and has amassed 13296 runs with 22 tons and as many as 82 fifties. An average of 38.20 is one of the best as well while 175* is the best ever individual score in the format.

Who are the other players in Shane Watson’s list?

The next player to make it to Shane Watson’s list is AB de Villiers who is literally beyond all the numbers. His ability to play different kind of shots makes him very tough to bowl at. He has played a massive 312 matches in this format scoring 8736 runs with four centuries and 63 half-centuries. His RCB team-mate and skipper Virat Kohli is the third batsman in Watson’s list.

Kohli is only about class with the ball and loves to play textbook strokes. Having played 283 T20 matches in his career so far, he has already smacked more runs than De Villiers (8915 runs) at a magical average of close to 41 and has scored five centuries to go with 64 fifty-plus scores. Shane Watson, wrapping up his list, named Andre Russell and David Warner in his list of top five batsmen of all-time in T20s.

Both the batsmen, playing different roles, for their teams, have shone time and again. While Warner is amazingly consistent in the shortest format, the Caribbean Russell has been literally brutal with the bat blowing away the opposition line-ups at will.
